So with today’s heat, the last thing you probably want to think about is being outside. But you can’t sit in the air conditioning forever. So make plans to get out of the house this weekend. There’s two awesome community picnics going on Saturday. Here are the details:
Social Media Summer Picnic: Social Media Club has teamed up with Kimber Media for a summer picnic this Saturday from 4:30-6:30 in the Nickell Shelter at Cosmo park. There will be BBQing, socializing, and kids activities. Bring paper goods, a side dish to share (Kimber Media is providing the main dish) and prepare to have some fun in the sun! Everyone is welcome. Just RSVP for yourself and your guests here. You can follow along on the Facebook page too. As an “entrance fee” they are asking for a donation item for Sol House. Suggested items include: teen friendly male clothing, makeup, cleaning supplies, and non perishable groceries. Walmart gift cards are also welcomed.
Columbia Beer Enthusiasts Picnic: Once a year the Columbia Beer Enthusiasts take their beer glasses out of the bar and into the sun. These craft beer lovers gather for an afternoon of fun, food, and beer that lasts well into the evening. If you have ever been curious about joining the group, now’s the time to try it out. Bring some beer, a side dish or dessert to share, and come out and say hi. The fun starts at the Happy Hollow Shelter at Stephens Lake Park at 1pm. There’s a playground right next to the shelter and families are welcome. If you would rather show up after the sun has set, the shelter is reserved until 11pm. RSVP to the Facebook event page.
