CoMo Events : Inside Columbia Wine and Food Fest & Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week

It’s a busy week here in Columbia, Missouri. There are two week long events to participate in. Check out the details on both below.

First off is Inside Columbia’s Wine and Food Fest. The event kicks off tonight (Monday) with Wine and Art at Shiloh where you can sip wine and bid art created by local celebrities and all the auction proceeds benefit Sol House. Tuesday and Thursday there are wine dinners at some of Columbia’s best restaurants. Wednesday features an all out extravaganza of food and wine at the Chef’s Showcase. Friday night is the Grand Tasting where there will be over 400 different varietals to taste . Stop by Tallulah’s at 812 E. Broadway, tomorrow between 4 and 6 p.m. to receive a free $20 gift certificate with the purchase of two Grand Tasting tickets. Fine and more information about the festival here and purchase tickets here.

If you have some free time Friday night, they still need volunteers for The Grand Tasting. Volunteers get free swag including two Riedel glasses, a Wine & Food Festival T-shirt, and two tickets to Sip & Shop Saturday afternoon. There will be a new volunteer training session at 4 p.m. Friday before The Grand Tasting starts at 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Expo Center. Sign up to volunteer here.

To counteract a week’s worth of food and wine indulgence, you will want to participate in Bike, Walk, and Wheel week. This event wants to inspire you to get out of your car and onto the streets via your own power or the city’s public transit. There are tons of ways to participate. The full schedule is on the PedNet website.

Some highlights include a “secret access trail ride” leaving at 6:00pm tonight from the Flat Branch Park Gazebo, corner of 4th and Cherry. It’s a Twenty-mile round-trip ride and helmets are required. Call 823.5503 for more information. Wednesday is the Family Fun Fest “Fitness Is Fun” from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Flat Branch Park. Call Columbia Parks and Recreation for more information 874-7460. On Thursday you can ride the bus all day long for free since it’s Try Transit Day. If you’re bike, walking, wheeling, or busing around town enjoy free breakfast from 7:00 – 9:00am at one of the breakfast stations.
