Columbia Parents for Public Schools is hosting a FREE screening of the education documentary “Race to Nowhere” on Wednesday, November 2, at 5:30pm, at Ragtag Cinema. A panel discussion will follow.
This controversial film has drawn fire for it’s one sided view of the system (it mainly concentrates on high achieving students in a few major cities.) But it has also been praised and lauded for bringing light to an issue that is rarely discussed. Race to Nowhere was intended to be “a call to mobilize families, educators, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens.” Columbia joins thousands of cities across the country that are screening this film for the community and following it with an open forum on what can be done.
Come view this hard-hitting film and stay to talk about public schools in Columbia.
