CoMo Tech: Joe Schmitter

@comojoe

Who are you?

A child of God. A father to two beautiful little girls, ages 5 and 2. The husband of a lovely, talented, and caring woman named Teresa. I care too much, and never have enough time to do everything I want to accomplish, but I’m learning to be content with my life.

What do you do for money?

I help people and businesses achieve their dreams and share their stories, sometimes simultaneously.

What do you do for fun?

I run 5K’s and watch sports. I’m a passionate sports follower: College & Pro Football, Nascar, and all Mizzou athletics are my favorites.

I would characterize my relationship with technology as:

Fascinated. I love technology and how it has helped us be so much more productive, creative, entertained, connected, and educated. I don’t understand much of the hard-core technical stuff, but I greatly appreciate the capabilities it provides.

Smart or dumb phone? What kind? If smart, what are the three apps you use most?

It’s smarter than I am, so I guess it’s a smart phone. I use an iPhone. The 3 apps I use most are:

  1. social media apps (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  2. i-nigma QR code reader, and
  3. Google Maps

Mac or PC or Other?

PC, but I’m considering adding an iPad to my gadget collection.

I use twitter for …

Work, connecting with people who I might never meet otherwise, arguing politics, connecting with fellow Believers, following sports & marketing trends, and entertainment.

I use facebook for …

Sharing pictures of my family, connecting with old & new friends, work, entertainment, arguing politics, and learning more about my favorite brands (products, sports teams, bands, etc.).

Do you read any blogs? What are three of your favorites?

Yes, I like:

  1.  Clear Vision Development by Tony Richards. Not only does he do a great job blogging in the format of video lessons on leadership and personal development, but the website has a ton of great tips, quotes, and educational opportunities.
  2.  Max Lucado writes a Daily Devotional that I almost always find beneficial.
  3.  Lou Imbriano was the CMO of the World Champion New England Patriots. He is now an author, professor, blogger, speaker, CEO of TrinityOne Marketing, and all around great guy. He writes quite a bit and blogs on both  sites.

Go-to menu item and restaurant in CoMo?

For lunch or to meet up with friends, love me some Addison’s. I crave their Mojito Fries, and the Marinated Chicken Philly is excellent. I’m a sucker for banana peppers!

For celebrations, we like Mackenzie’s North. It’s in our subdivision, and has awesome food. Can’t go wrong with “The Stuffed Bistro”.

Complete this sentence: Archers of Loaf is:

I had no idea. Had to Google them to find out it’s an indie-rock band. I’m more of an 80’s fan. I’ve been a HUGE fan of Survivor since around 1981. (You know, the guys that sang Eye of the Tiger.)

Friends are visiting from out-of-town. You’re for-sure taking them to:

Depends what time of year, and who they are. Maybe a Mizzou game, maybe to Shakespeare’s Pizza, maybe to the Katy Trail, or any number of other places.

My second-favorite city/town/hamlet/state/country/province in the world is:

My hometown of Kirksville, MO.

Thanks, Joe!
