I’m a mom, wife, journalist and a really bad cook. Seriously, I burn water. I’m also training to be a social media ninja.
What do you do for money?
I anchor the 5pm news on KOMU and report for my feature segment called “Sarah’s Stories”. I’m also an adjunct professor at the J School and help students hone their storytelling skills.
What do you do for fun?
I run….although people say they saw me out “walking”. I like to watch my daughter dance and my son play baseball. I collect African Art and love to tell stories that come word of mouth and not from a media release.
I would characterize my relationship with technology as:
Addictive. My husband jokes that he’s an “iPhone widow”.
Smart or dumb phone? What kind? If smart, what are the three apps you use most?
iPhone 3GS (waiting until the 4 goes on sale hopefully in July) Most used apps are Twitter and Facebook ….the NEW KOMU mobile app….an app called “Around me”…and due to my kids…my “fart machine app” gets a lot of use, too.
Mac or PC or Other?
PC….only because our editing equipment is on a PC so that’s how I roll.
I use twitter for …
Getting story ideas, staying current on industry trends, updating viewers about breaking news situations and sharing with viewers the future Sarah’s Stories I’m working on.
I use facebook for …
(same as above except on facebook, I am a little more open about my personal life…like uploading a pic of the opossum that our dog brought into our bedroom one night.)
Do you read any blogs? What are three of your favorites?
Go-to menu item and restaurant in CoMo?
…. asking me which one is the favorite is like asking which one of your children is your favorite. 🙂 Love them all…
Complete this sentence: Archers of Loaf is/are:
Archers of Loaf IS a NC rock band. Thank you Wiki. “Archers of Loaf” is also singular….kind of like “Centers for Disease Control” is a singular entity. It takes a singular verb. I’m not a grammar cop, but I play one on TV.
Friends are visiting from out-of-town. You’re for-sure taking them to:
A welcome home celebration for veterans returning from an Honor Flight.
My second-favorite city/town/hamlet/state/country/province in the world is:
Main Street in Quincy, IL. Love the architecture there.
