As the weather gets warmer and you’re spending more time strolling downtown, planning picnics in the park with friends, and playing catch with your dog, you’ll be looking for some cute dresses and top/jacket ensembles to compliment the season. I often forget about the Mustard Seed when I’m shopping for clothing, but they offer some of the cutest additions to my wardrobe! And the fact that all of their clothing is fairly traded is icing on the cake!

The story behind Sseko Sandals: You buy the shoe and straps separately. There are endless ways to tie the strap using loops in the shoe and various twisting and braiding methods. Women who graduated from the Cornerstone Leadership Academy make these shoes in Uganda. Sseko Designs employs these women during a 9-month gap between secondary school and college, a time period meant to give women time to save for their education. But it is difficult to find work in an impoverished and male-dominated society. These women will not make shoes forever. They will go on to become doctors, lawyers, and teachers.
